Shaun Kennedy

Shaun started in the art of jiu jitsu in December 2008 in Hawaii, initially as a way to stay in shape, but soon realized the discipline, honor, and tradition of the sport was exactly what he was looking for to balance and enhance his life. Moving to Virginia in 2010, Shaun now trains at Charlottesville BJJ, where he is motivated to train harder and keep learning from the teammates he rolls with five nights a week. Shaun is a Purple Belt.

For inspiration, Shaun looks to Saulo Ribeiro, author of Jiu Jitsu University, who noted, "When you react, you don't give your mind the time to get filled with emotions. You are devoid of anger, fear, and frustration; you are simply moving.”
